by the way I have never actually set foot on terra firma covered with snow

Wow, Marc, kind of early for snow, even in the Rockies isn't it? Nice photos. I have the DA 16-50, but sometimes wish for a smaller wide angle to tote around, but I'm just looking still...

It's not unusual to get *some* snow by Halloween, but fairly uncommon to get such a big strom so early.
