Soligor C/D lenses

Just bought a Soligor C/D 135mm 2.8 k mount lens new in box. Anyone have a Soligor C/D lens? If so, post some photos and your experiences. Cheers.

I have a Soligor C/D 28mm f/2.8 in M42 mount. Very well built but I haven't tested it much yet. I'll take it out later if the rain stops.

Hey Matt, did you get a chance to test the 28mm? Anyone else with Soligor C/D experience? Unfortunately I have the lens in Australia and won't be able to use it until January 10th when I go back.

I had a M42 C/D 2.8/28mm briefly, and it was ok but nothing special. I've also had a Komine-made Soligor C/D 2.5/90mm macro in K-A mount and a M42 C/D 2.8/55mm. The 90mm goes to 1:1 and is the same lens as Vivitar/Elicar/Panagor 90mm macro. The 55mm goes to 1:2 on it's on but usually comes with a "1:1 converter" which is actually just an extension tube with matching looks. I think this 55mm has been also sold under the Sears brand.

Both these macro lenses were very nice but I don't miss them because I now have the the Vivitar 2.8/100mm macro (which I'm not selling).

Sounds like the Soligor C/D lenses are nothing special...maybe a waste of $ on the 135mm 2.8 k mount I bought. Anyway, I look forward testing it out.

My brother has a 70-205 Soligor zoom, the build quality is nice, but optically its a piece of crap. The lens is really heavy and it came with the original case, so we were joking around if someone tries to steal the camera just smack em on the head with that lens

In short, you are wrong that Soligor C/D is nothing special.
It is something similar to Vivitar Series I, so it is their top lenses.
But as Vivitar, Soligor is brand name, not manufacturer.
So you must look at particular glass.
Some glass are very good.
You could look at 80-200 and 80-210 zooms with quite fast F3.5 aperture.

I hope your're right as I did read that the Soligor C/D lenses were comparable with the Viv S1's. Bust since it's hard to find much info on them I thought they were not popular.

Soligor was popular back in the day, but the parent company (Allied Impex?) went bankrupt in the mid-1970s. Lenses were sourced from from a variety of manufacturers (Komine, Tokina, Tamron, etc.) with quality equivalent to contemporary Vivitar models.

Here is a recent post with a photo from a 250mm Tele:
