brown spot on photos

I got this vivitar 2x teleconverter (pk) from ebay. Aside from being stuck (I managed to unstuck it, but don't want to put it back on until I know why it gets stuck), I also noticed that there is a brown spot in all the pics I took. I don't see any brown/ black spots on the TC. I don't see any fungus in it either. It looks quite clean, actually. I did see very small smudged area (less than 1mm in diameter) on the edge of rear element of the TC. But the brown spot on pics appear to be towards the center (not exactly...but it is certainly not on the edge)

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Donna

Hi Donna.
If you can't see anything on the TC, check the lens it attaches to.
You may be able to see a speck of something stuck on one of the elements causing this.
Doesn't look like it's on the sensor (I'm assuming you're shooting with a dSLR) but it's worth having it checked if you can't find the culprit elsewhere.

I was about to say a bug crawled into the lamp until I saw the second two photos.

Are those full size pics? Or are they crops?

If that is full size I dont think that could be on the lenses with out you seeing it.

Does it appear in pics taken with other lenses, or just the ones taken with the TC? That knowledge will go a long way in figuring out if it's the body or the lens.

If it's on the sensor it's something so big it'll be no problem seeing it on your sensor. Use the sensor cleaning option in the menu to expose the sensor and I bet you can just blow whatever it is on the sensor off.

I cleaned the TC, and made sure both the TC and lens are clean. Now it is okay, which is good news.

Thanks
