Samsung 12-24mm Quickshift Focus

Question to anyone with the Samsung 12-24mm, does it have the same quick-shift that the Pentax has?

It looks at the moment that you can get the Samsung for a lot less than the Pentax and this is the one feature I would really miss.

i have one, and yes it does have the quick-shift.

AFAIK it's the same as the DA, apart from exterior cosmetics.

I have the Samsung version, and it does have quick-shift. I would say as far as I can tell that it is exactly the same lens - it even has the same metal badges 'cept they say Samsung...

In Canada the Pentax is currently approx $1200, it looks like I can get the Samsung for around $800.

I swear the Pentaxes were going for $575 on eBay the other day.

That was about a 1-2 months ago... I'm not sure what's going on with the price of that lens. Very strange.

Also, three months ago I bought my Pentax 10-17mm fisheye new for $400. It's been going up as well... if I was feeling optimistic, I'd say maybe this is because the K-7 is selling well, and demand for Pentax lenses is up?

(Recent Pentax lens pricing has been making the Tamron 10-24mm look good price-wise!)

the Samsung SA 12-24/4.0 version of this lens is exactly identical to the Pentax DA 12-24/4.0 version in terms of optics and usability, so yes it does have quick-shift focus. The only difference is the rubber grip on the Samsung is spiked, it has a blue ring instead of a green ring, and the metal badge will say Samsung instead of Pentax. The Pentax version is a lot easier to find than the Samsung version here in the US, also the Pentax 12-24 currently goes for 744 on Amazon.
