SMC-M 135mm Issue

Just picked up a great looking SMC-M 135mm prime, but it seems to have issues.
When attempting to focus to infinity, it stops just short of being in focus; but not by much, maybe a couple millimeters on the focusing ring.
Could anyone tell me what would cause this problem or how it could be fixed?

Are you sure it is coming short of focusing to infinity, or that it passes infinity, which many lenses do?

You can check by looking through the viewfinder and coming back from the extreme end slightly to see if things far away come into focus - then try MF mode on the camera to see if the AF confirmation light comes on when you do this...

What do the pictures look like? Buying an older lens can be a crap shoot. I had a 28mm f2.8 'A' that was a turd.
