F* & FA* club!

I think there were 11 FA* lenses made, and this is my first ever. Some of them are very rare but there should be owners of some of these lenses here. I know the forum members have the FA*24/f2, FA*85/1.4, FA*200/2.8, FA* 200/F4 macro, FA* 300/4.5, FA*28-70/2.8, FA* 80-200/2.8 and the FA*250-600/f5.6. I would love to see some images taken with these and other FA* lenses.

P.S: I didn't realize that there were F* lenses as well. I know both F* and FA* 300/4.5 shares the same optical formula, and I think both star lenses should be included here...

Pentax FA* 24/f2

Fa*300/4.5

Disclaimer: plese bear in mind these are from first - hurried - outing, so I didn't get the chance yet to get the best out of this lens. But first shots are promising IMO.

FA* lenses....???

Just kidding of course! I am curious to see what the images are like with some of the FA* lenses I do not own. It seems to be a mixed bag with the FA* 24/2 for some folks, but I certainly don't see that here! Beautiful colors in all of the images.

Regards,
Marc

I am getting attached to this FA24/f2 very quickly. I am trying to keep other lenses on my K-7, but pretty soon I am reaching for my FA24 to make me happy. Today, I tried the FA77, F135 and the DA21, all of them are stellar lenses, but then I attach the FA24/f2, and I was happy. I think it is going to be my walk around lens, my perfect focal length for landscapes.
Here is one from today.....Click on it to enlarge.

FA* 85mm f/1.4

First shots from this lens. First impression - just amazing. Great bokeh at f1.4, reasonable sharp and accurate AF. Build like tank

FA* club...probably not descriptive enough. For me it's more of a fetish. Before fondling my FA*'s I dress in latex and hire a dominatrix (OK, so she volunteers to be near those beautiful lenses).

I'm one of the few who didn't like the 24/2, but I blame that on a bad copy. Also sold an FA*300/4.5 which I still regret--though the buddy I sold it to lets me play with it as long as I don't show up at his door in latex with a whip-happy companion.

Still shooting FA*28-70/2.8, FA*80-200/2.8 and FA*250-600/5.6 for zooms. And FA*200/4 Macro and FA*600/4 for primes (yes the 3 amigos too but they have no *).

I just plain love the FA* color rendition and bokeh plus their way too heavy heft is something I like a lot too as I pretty much only shoot from a tripod. So other people have gym memberships, I carry FA* lenses. The more I shoot the better shape I'm in--so I can look good in latex!

Now I have both the FA*85 1.4 and the 77 Ltd. I love both lenses, but the 77 Ltd is more versatile. The 85mm was designed as a portrait lens, and at least on my copy is not great for distance shots. Portraits and close-ups.... yes yes yes, but medium/long distance the 77 wins by a mile.

Think carefully of your needs before making that swap.
