Yes. That lens. That lens that ever budding photographer in the world seems to acquire at one point...

And it's a damned fine lens too!

Anyhow, after doing a bit of research I've discovered that his lens may not actually be designed for a 1.6x crop sensor and will actually work on my ME Super without that nasty 'vignetting'. I'm I correct in thinking so? I've trawled quite extensively and found nothing but a few hints of maybes and yesses, but I don't trust alot of places on the internet on the best of occasions.

Correct me if Im wrong but the DG means that its 35mm and cropped camera,the DC means only good for Dslr's

You're right - DG lens - so it is OK for 35mm, as well as digital. I have been considering getting one recently. Optically it is the same as the Olympus 70-300 (different lens body), but that gets exceptional reviews on the 4/3rds - given its price point. And on K mount, it is even cheaper.

It is useable on film -- I used one on a *ist film body for awhile, but it still does vignette at the long end (at least mine did). It actually seemed to perform better on the cropped sensor -- probably just because the corners were so weak.

Well, I imagine it would perform better on a cropped sensor as the centre of a lens typically performs the best. But I'm sure you know that anyhow!

It is a fine lens. I have one and I like it

And yes, it is also a FF lens

Of course now that I realise I could have taken this with me to Austria, I am spewing somewhat because I could have really done with a nice tele lens in 'dem hills.

Ah well, I have a scottish winter of climbing to look forward too with it.
