if you guys are anything like me, you've been having a hard time figuring out how to set the shutter speed using the previous posted trick (seen
here). after messing around with the camera today, i may have stumbled upon a different method where you can actually LOCK shutter speed IN STILL MODE.
step 1: use a manual lens (will NOT work with kit lens).
step 2: go to "P" (Program Mode) on the dial (the camera will say it's in Av mode.)
step 3: set ISO to 100 *. achieve desired shutter speed by pointing at (or away from) light source.
step 4: press AF/AE-L. the asterisk will appear on the LCD and the settings will be locked.
step 5: go to VIDEO on the dial. the asterisk will still be locked. the shutter speed locked in P mode will be retained.
* make sure it's in ISO100 or the shutter speed will be divided appropriately. (ie: if you're in ISO400 with a 1/200 shutter selected, the ISO will revert to 100 and shutter speed to 1/50 once in video mode.)
notes: it seems there's a limit to how low the shutter speed can go. i don't see much difference between 1/25 and 1/10. maybe there's only a few different speeds that can be selected?
test this out. see if it's right. maybe there's something i missed?
