B&W Conversion

Finally got my FA 50mm this last week. I snapped this earlier. I love doing B&W. How do you think this conversion came out?

I'd say the conversion came out perfect! You have the entire tonal range and good contrast!

Hey Arpe, I used Photoshop CS3 to process the photo. If I remember correctly, I took the RAW and changed to grayscale. Then I upped the exposure a little and cranked the contrast all the way up. There seem to be alot of ways to convert to black and white in Photoshop. Last night I tried some more conversions by going to channel mixer and then choosing highlights/shadows I believe.

Shouldn't that be "foot in foot"?

Nice conversion, although I admit I find the image... searching for a word... offputting, I guess. There's something about the sharp focus on the one foot while the other is almost entirely oof that just seems odd. Or maybe it's the position of the toes. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just the way it strikes me. And as a short, stumpy-toed person, I'm always a little startled by long toes! Hm, I suppose those are normal toes, and I should accept that I'm the one with funny feet. Anyway, it keeps me coming back, which is a good thing, right?

I love the conversion, I'm struggling with B&W and wish I could come even close to this. Although I'm not a "foot" person, I find this an interesting composition, a unique photo.
