Great shot. EXIF please.

Perhaps lighten it up just a touch? Maybe it's just my screen. I know from experience the smoke and concrete walls will confuses the metering slightly.

There is a practice round near me this weekend but I have to move house so am going to miss it.

codiac, when you compate it to the original, looks like you gave it a coat of wax! shinier and sharper.

I went into levels and adjusted the trim and lightened it a bit in there as well. I applied USM at .3 radius and 120% then again at like 30%. I then dupilcated the layer and added the soft light layer style and reduce the fill till it looked nice.

Technically this photo is extremely well done. The panning is perfect.

Aesthetically, it leaves much to be desired. The car is quite ugly, the background is busy, and there is a white blob in the bottom left corner. There is also sensor dust visible on the right side just below the smoke and possibly just above the driver's head on the road.

It makes a neat exercise in panning, but it isn't a compelling artistic photograph.

Thank you, I never actually noticed the sensor dust before, but now that you point it out I can see it.

The car, backround and blob are really hard to change.....Cars like this tend to get wrecked a lot so they rarely look nice, The backround is a problem as the track is pretty open and there isn't much for interpretation there, where the car goes, I go. And the blob is a protective tire to keep drivers safely away from me and the giant pole I was standing next to.

Definately keep them coming....It is all stuff I will think about next time I'm shooting an event

Oh Gaelen on doing that PP'ing I spoke of, the numbers will be very different for you since you get a higher rez image to play with than I do. Your numbers would be more like 300% the first USM and 75% your second. Play with that but don't over do the USM or you'll have nasty artifacts like a Canon camera would produce. Oh, if you notice from my conversion I removed your blob, dust speck, and another little thing in the right corner area.

Yes chris I noticed all that....But since I was at work when I did the picture, I was just testing out your methods.

I'm going to play with a few more pictures tonight and i'll put them up....this whole PP'ing is all too new to me. I very much appreciate your time and help though....it's giving me hope
