Just out of curiosity, how did you decide on your settings to assure such a "perfect" exposure? Did you meter on the sky? Take the camera meter reading as is, or tweak it up or down? Shot manual, or AV priority.....
I think krs asked very interesting questions - care to expand. Thanks

Actually it's a lot more than that. The tallest closest trees are the point of interest. Then one follows the line of trees away and out of the picture. This is almost the opposite of a leading line. But then the eyes comes back again to the same trees. The shadows in the foreground pull one to the tallest giant. All in all this motion is most satisfying and results in a very successful composition.

Hy Krs & JC (and other one off course)

In général, when i shot with my K10, i'm in AV mode. I've not the caméra meter but for this picture, i have stop my car because i have the good feeling. I have plug my 18/55 on and i keep my settings, i change the IL and after Photoshop is my friend.
Excuse me for my explanations but it's more difficult for me to explain to you because my english is very limited.

I am only echoing others when I say that it is an outstanding photo. And yet, I must say it.

Again, not to worry about your language limitations - that's what makes this forum TRULY International.

The only thing I didn't understand is IL

Your explanation of how you got The wakening of the giants makes it even better because many of us will see a scene but we either don't have a camera with us or we cannot stop.

Correct me if I'm wrong but probably this would be refered to as EV (Exposure Value) in English?

This is inded an almost perfect photo but I kept looking at it because something just seemed to be missing....... why not try a square crop, crop line just left of the first two larger trees. IMHO that would work just fine and look good on any ones wall.

Merci KalOO, this is what I had in mind. It's just my way of looking at things.

Take care,
