Malards on mothers day..

Here's two from today, I wanted to post a few more, but photoshop is giving me runtime errors.....
Both shot with a daf 100 mm macro, I was within arms length of these guys..

iso800, 1/750th f 6.7

iso800, 1/350th f8

1st pic, lose the building in the background
2nd pic, needs some light shone back on the face to fill in the shadows. perhaps a small reflector? also, even shallower DOF IMHO

These shots always make me laugh.. They are decent shots. The reason I laugh is because of a photo composition instructor I had... After a couple of weeks of class he had to comment to the class that one of the things NOT allowed as part of the assignments were pictures of "Park Ducks and Geese"...They don't count as wildlife he would always say...After that, I can't make myself take pictures of fowl in the local city park. They are great for trying things out though... Watch the backgrounds, and the lighting on the Drake makes his head in the shade... They are brilliant when the light angle is correct.
