PPG hopefuls C&C please

I have decided to submit some more shots to PPG. But I want to ask you guys if you think there is any way of improving these shots.
Any C&C, suggestions and ideas are very welcome....
Let's hear it

Really really great captures.

I would add contrast to picture 1 and 2. I would also try to bring out more details in the far end of shot 1, maybe try with a slight use of unsharp mask.

Picture 3 is excellent as is, to me.

Picture 4 is in my opinion too messy. The idea is great and the motif aswell, I think perhaps if you redo the post processing of it a bit it would be excellent. The water needs to be separated from the sky. Also there need to be more contrast between the buildings and the clouds. Perhaps this picture would be better off if kept in colour.

Thats my 2 cents.

Many thanx Zewrak, I was afraid that I won't get any comments...
...well maybe some are afraid of competition...

Anyway, I will take your comments on board and see if I'll like it...

these are really good! i really like b&w photos!

#3 is perfect

but I really like #4 too
I would probably adjust the levels and make the darker parts a lil' more darker to create more contrast

goodluck!!!

I think the last one has the most chances of being accepted. Like the concept and the perspective.

Thanx guys, I submitted the first 3. 1&2 had levels and curves adjusted to get bit more contrast, and 1 had little sharpening done too... thanx for the idea. As for number 4 I can't get it exactly as I want it... I will try later....

Hi Axl, I took the liberty of cropping #1 which, I think, makes the person more part of the picture instead of just being in it. Unfortunately I don't think it improves the picture from a PPG standpoint.
I like all the shots but I think 3 probably has the best chance.

It's the place where you submit our best stuff to Pentax to be rejected.

Btw. 3 is excellent and I agree with Zewrak's thoughts on them

Wow beest, I never noticed you were from Nova Scotia. Good to see another Pentaxian from my neck of the woods.

Seriously the PPG is here: PENTAX Photo Gallery

Go to site tools and click on 'contact us'. Send them an email to get a registration access code. You can then submit your best stuff for rejection.

Try one or more of of these first. I like the top one, and I've never used anything other than my eye and a few test pages. Plus, look at the (supposedly calibrated) image galleries to see how yours compare. If theirs look way green or red, you have a problem. If they look good, your are fine :-)

The first two images could use more contrast - there are no true blacks.
