Moving at a snail's pace!

I found this little guy in my backyard, but the ground was so dark and busy that I decided to put him on a table.

Is the table too light? Maybe I shoud darken it? What do you think?

I think it looks artificial to have him on a table. You need to get in closer, when the setting is not that interesting.

Yes. I'd like to see the snail fill the frame. Perhaps a lower angle might help as well. Get down to its eye level.

Yes would have to agree with some of the comments

Closer to the subject with a hint of leaves in the surrounds would have given a better illusion
