I actually like the softness. It looks like a few of the petals are melting...very surrealistic, at least at those spots.

Thanks for the comments! I'm new to digital photography so I just turn my camera on and shoot. I have no idea about stops, exposure, white balance, etc.! Sad but true. I do plan on changing that though...........just trying to find some good books....in easy to understand English!

Try getting the Magic Lantern Guide for your camera, it has helped me a lot. Or, a member on this forum has also written a book. I haven't read the book so I cannot comment on it. Her forum name is K10DBOOK.
Both of them will help you get the most potential from your camera.

I think that shifting the image slightly to the left would show more of the centre of the flower and less of the empty background on the right. Not that the subject is the centre, but a little more would be nice to see I think.

The framing is interesting and a good idea, but I really have an urge to see more of the flower. Showing just a little bit more of the center bit would be IMHO a great idea. But you definitely had a good idea by the framing here; too many flower pictures are generic. This one is not so much. Careful focusing!
It also needs a bit of brightening in GIMP or Photoshop or whatever program you can adjust curves or levels in.
