Lightbulb A Few Shots of My Daughter

I have been trying to take better people shots. On a family vacation I daughter was kind enough to be my subject for a while. I was pretty happy with some of the shot we took. Comments welcome.

The first one a little soft(on the focus) and the second one a lot clearer

Personally, I think the first one is GREAT, except for the softness. If the original was sharp, I would run a soften filter on it for the same affect, but restore sharpness to the face.

Same for second shot.

Lovely daughter, great photos, slightly distracting background... my own personal achilles heal.
