Black to Blue
ISO: ---   Aperture: ---   Shutter Speed: ---   Camera: K10D   Focal Length: 300MM

G'Day everyone
Could I please have a bit of critique on this image. It looked a bit flat in b/w so I put in some blue which seems to have lifted it a bit. Also added some contrast. Any comments would be appreciated.

jaab,

The blue color makes the image look rich, but foreboding.

Is that a croc?

I have to agree with sawtooth. The blue seems to give it some real depth. I would think the b/w would have made it flat and you would have lost the feel of the photo.

Gday
Thanks ,the image is a good old Aussie platypus. Generally hard to photograph but luckily I have a river quite close and there is a few in residence. I was just in the right place at the right time. The platypus is a real gem of a animal, with a duck like bill and the ability to lay a egg and suckle its young . Only two animals can do that the other being an echidna which is also a Aussie. Both good animals to Google.cheers Jaab

Very spooky looking. I thought it looked like a crocodile lurking in the water.

In terms of image critic, you got the effects done just right on the image.

However, the image is a little too blue. The highlights from the water ripple turns out to be blue. A little strong for me.

The high contrast really pops the image for sure. I like it like that.

I wish there was more details from the skin of the creature immersed in water

It is interesting. But to me, it is more in the realm of abstract than a discernible subject, which is not bad.
