Heron
ISO: 100   Aperture: F5.6   Shutter Speed: 1/200s   Camera: K10D   Focal Length: 300mm

I recently bought a smc PENTAX-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8.
Tried a few bird shots over the last few days, just testing out the range of this lens.
This is probably the best of the bunch.
Taken in a park in Tokyo on a vey bright and sunny day.
EV -0.7
It was handheld.

Thoughts and any criticism appreciated.

It looks slightly underexposed and could do with a tighter crop (removing some from the top left corner moves the heron more away from the center of the image).

I concur with the crop. By removing the left side almost up to the bird, and bringing the top down to the bird, you would have a more dynamic image. Here is a quick crop and 2/3 stop increase in exposure. Tell me what you think.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I didn't feel it was underexposed, but maybe that's my monitor...

Thanks for the crop. Yes, it looks a lot better.

Thanks again.

On my monitor, the detail in the near side of the bird came out a bit better when I increased the exposure, but the first shot was not far off. Personal taste.
