Mid-morning light
ISO: 200   Aperture: F8   Shutter Speed: 1/200s   Camera: PENTAX K10D   Focal Length: 16mm

The afternoon light (next post) is more satisfying I think.

Yes, the more tangential light does add texture to this amazing formation of rocks...
Well done.

Great picture. Very good colours, and I agree about how nice the side lighting looks in giving more shadows and detail to the rocks. It must have been amazing to see first-hand.

Ole, this is a great example of using shadows and light to provide more contrast, but definitely not at the expense of the image. It gives the image a better 3-D effect. I am trying to figure out if a slightly different framing is better (ie. a bit off the top and just a tad less foreground) but I came back to the original. What would be good is to see another (similar) shot of this bluff - do you have any others?

Beautiful colors.

I do have a couple of others. What I like about the orginal posted photo above is that it has a clear focal point where the various lines converge.

The 2nd and 3rd shots in the bunch above are my favorite! The original is still beautiful, but it seems like something is missing on the left side, as far as composition goes.
