Veging out in front of Superman III (1983).
Movie only became enjoyable once I noticed Jimmy Olson was shooting Pentax. Suspected this when he climbed up the ladder at the burning chemical plant with a camera with a chromed top cover with a zoom- Shoulder strap has red borders, a little later he is doing a portrait shoot of prize winners in the newspaper office and the Camera says Pentax - K or KX or similar I am guessing. If anyone can pause the film they will also get the lens as it is a very clear front on shot

This camera cannot be mistaken: it's an Asahiflex IIa with 58mm f/2.4 Asahi-Kogaku Takumar in the 1966's movie "Alfie" starring Michael Caine.

So I gargle IMDB PENTAX (scanning the Internet Movie Database) and find:

PENTAX CHECK IN (2003) Europorn
PROOF (1991) Pentax gets company credit
THE BEDFORD INCIDENT (1965) Sid Poitier slings Pentax & Nikon
THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994) a K1000 is visible
LOST IN TRANSLATION (2003) Pentax gets company credit
TERMINATOR 2 - JUDGEMENT DAY (1991) some Pentax visibility

Many of the 81 in-site hits point to PENTAX CHECK IN - I guess the cast kept busy. Meanwhile, IIRC Faye Dunaway slung a Spotty in 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR (1975) but I could be wrong. That happens occasionally.

I just noticed "Kitka" Catwoman (Lee Meriwether) using a Spotmatic with leopard print accents in Batman The Movie.

Unless I posted this the last time I noticed this.

Are you sure it's a Comet? I flew London to Singapore and KL to London in a Comet 4 in 1959 and I don't remember the windows being as big. Mind you, that was a looong time ago and my memory isn't what it used to be

Also, we flew much higher than current jets seem to. 40,000ft.

Richard.

One of the dSLRs was used in the American remake of Shutter last year. K100D or K10D IIRC.
Just caught some of that last night. I think it was a K100D. And if you blink in the very beginning, you'll miss what I think is a 645. Definitely a MF Pentax though. Overall, lots of decent cameras in that movie.

Is that when Arnie breaks the window at the mall and that tourist guy shoots a few photos of him?

I saw a movie last year where they shot some fashion stuff with a 67 IIRC. But the guy got killed 2mins after. Something about some diamonds... I don't know

In the movie Jaws, they're using what I think is a Spotomatic to take a picture of the Tigershark - just after Richard Dreyfus is measuring the sharks mouth, but i'm not sure since the picture is so out of focus (or my eyes are). Someone care to confirm/refute this one?

I think there were a couple of them used in the original Omen film series and I believe more than one "Jimmy Olsen" has carried one in a Superman related film/tv show. Lois and Clark's "Jimmy" had one as I recall and Smallville had their first and main "Jimmy Olsen" so far using several cameras digital and non.

One of his cameras was an older Pentax SLR, probably a K1000 unless I am mistaken. I'm not totally sure, but I think the signature SLR camera his little brother, also James, inherited at his funeral was one. I'll have to go back and look at some of the episodes with Jimmy holding his cameras for sure, but I do think at least one of his retro cameras was a Pentax. Don't think his DSLR was, but I'll have to check to know for sure.
