screen size, focus, Fast Stone

Using K10 with FA 35mm lens. I view a 10 mp photo on my 17 inch monitor using Fast Stone image viewer, and in order for it to show me the whole photo , it's reduced to say : 19 percent . If I reduce/resize the photo to 19 percent such that the Fast Stone image viewer software can show me the whole pic at 100 % of the photo's size, the focus becomes much nicer, is improved, inkier.
Anybody can tell me what is going there ? Is this a flaw in THIS image viewer that wouldn't happen in say Photoshop?

Resizing a picture so that it looks nice takes more time. Most viewers just try to show pictures as fast as possible. Some let you choose a better algorithm for resizing (IrfanView for example). I don't use faststone, but maybe it also has some configuration option to use a slower but better resizer for viewing.

I assume you are saying that when you load the picture/photo it is larger than the screen... if so then your settings in the software are most likely set to view image as actual size.

I downloaded the softwares latest version to check out for you and here are the correct settings if you want the image to fit screen or be reduced.

Go to settings

Stay in the first tab which is "Viewer"

on the right... second drop down option is "Auto Image Size"

Select "Auto Fit Large Only"
