Photoshop Elements 5 - K10D

Hi having problems in getting PEF files taken by my K10D. All files taken with my K100D as PEF have transferred OK.

I now get a warning similar to "files damaged or not supported format" - the files can be opened in Irfanview of Pentax etc but will not transfer to PSE 5.

Any thoughts on how to fix welcomed.

You may have to update the Adobe RAW Converter software within your Photoshop Elements. Yours may have an older version which does not recognise the PEF format used by K10D. For further instructions see Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows

Make sure you choose the latest version available for Elements 5. The very latest ones are for Elements 6 and 7 only.

I think the latest ACR version that supports PSE 5.0 is the version 4.5. You can go to the adobe site and find the download.

Yeah, I have PSE 5 and I had to update ACR to 4.5.1. to do my RAWs for my K-20d. The update's relatively easy to do, and you'll get that "clarity" slider that's actually is pretty useful.

Thanks for advice.

But still haven't fixed this problem - even removed the programme, reloaded & downloaded ACR update 3.7 again which had update for K10D. Still won't recognise PEF. Adobe are next to useless - 2 days between replies which state they no longer support PSE 5.

Anyone got another solution.

Ya downloaded Camera Raw 3.7? The newest version for PSE 5 is 4.6. Grab it here and install it.

So I downloaded 4.6 opened unzipped the files etc. Took some photos - converted 1 to Jpeg & that is the only file it recognised - still says the other new PEF files are damaged or of a type not correct format.

I'm at a loss.

Now fixed - had to get Adobe to step me through - the old ACW was still in folder which was the problem.
