Adobe bloatware..

Just look at how these file sizes have increased in a short space of time! And it can't just be because they've added cameras to the database.

Almost every Adobe product I have ever run is an absolute swine at the RAM trough. I finally upgraded top 3GB of RAm and things run well now but it's becoming insane.

I can run PSC3 Extended on a system with 512MB SDRAM and a Celeron 1.1 GHz. it has a lot more to do with the entire system not just how much RAM you have. having said that I agree more is better, and yes adobe is getting 'fat'. I have noticed this myself and I cant really understand why. then again im rather clueless about such things so, yea.

Adobe has always been a memory HOG. but if you look at it this way, the file sizes increase because of the demand of the industry to better performance and all the new apps that Adobe has created. Video, 3d, not to mention all the new filters and improvements of the original program. There is no short cut to code and increase code means more files and more files mean more memory. There is no other program on the market that covers the photographic spectrum that Adobe products covers. Yeah it's a hog but a beautiful hog.
Enjoy the best or settle for the rest. PHOTOSHOP CS4 user.

No, it's because the new color profiles are now included in Camera Raw 5.2 zip file. They were in beta in a separate download before. These profiles take 33Mb by themselves. Also note that the DNG converter has to be downloaded separetely now.

They are supposed to get you more accurate colors. In lightroom or Camera Raw you can now select 2 new profiles, one is the Adobe standard which is supposed to be color accurate and another one called Camera Standard which mimicks the color rendering of the JPEG in-camera.

For some cameras, Nikon and Canon in particular, Adobe also provides different color profiles matching the color styles of in-camera JPEGs. Unfortunately it's not available for Pentax.
