GIMP help

I'd like to make a poster like the one found here but the instructions are for PS, which I don't have. I do have the last version of Wilbur Loves Apple GIMP for Mac though.

The next to the last pictorial instructions says to set the resolution to 200 pixels/inch, which I do but the dialog boxes are different and I don't know if the other settings will need to apply, Bit Depth, Mode and Crop To for instance. The main thing I'm confused about is it says the rasterizing would take a while with PS but when I click on the OK button from GIMP it doesn't take very long, a few seconds only to rasterize the image.

Am I doing this right?

I would like to do this right before trying to send a TIFF file to Apple for printing which I may or may not accomplish due to my Internet connection, but I would like to try it nonetheless.

TIA
