Adobe vs Pentax

Some discussion this morning got me thinking about the difference between the Adobe and Pentax colour profile in Lightroom 2. So, I processed two pictures with the only difference being the choice of colour profile.

Here they are:

Name: IMGP5880-2.jpg
Views: 366
Size: 88.4 KB

Name: IMGP5880-3.jpg
Views: 368
Size: 87.3 KB

Here's a little fun to start the day... can you all pick the Pentax profile? I'll post results later this week.

The first photo you don’t look as grey. From what I hear Pentax is more true to life in color retention so I will vote that the bottom one is Pentax and top is Adobe.

regardless of which is which, a tiny tiny bit of white balance adjustment can make them look identical.

What's the point, Andrew? The differences are minimal, but some will obviously prefer one color profile over the other. Since both profiles are available, that clearly isn't a problem.

I don't know if I would call that minimal, its a pretty big difference in skin colour on my monitor.

You're right though, there's no problem - especially, as you say everyone has access to these colour profiles. And to be fair, I never said there was a problem.

I WAS hoping, however, that we could all have a little fun with the guessing game, so that's the point I suppose. Enjoy!

ps... did you pick one yet?

Some freaky responses to this thread IMHO, talk aboutnot answering the freakin question and nit picking.

Thi sis my number one issue with shooting RAW, I find it VERy h ard to nail the colour using Adobe products but there is nothing out there with the same work flow. I vote Pentax is the second image as i find Adobe often results in a red cast after conversion.

I am very sensitive to colour and IMHO the first is far, far too red and if you cannot see the difference int he two then your monitor needs calibration.
