Trialing Lightroom 2 - System Restore / Win XP

I use Lightroom v1 and was thinking about upgrading to v2 for $99.

I use XP and never use System Restore

My question is can I turn on System Restore, take a checkpoint, install and test LR v2, then if I don't like/need it revert back to pre LR 2 and continue to use the older version?

Will the data (on a separate drive - not impacted by System Restore) be changed?

When you install LR2 you will have both LR1 and LR2 installed. You can use either one. Installing LR2 does not upgrade LR1 but is entirely separate.

So LR2 will update the LR1 catalog and leave the original unchanged? I'll have that backed up just in case. Thanks!!!!!

I've read that LR 2 will convert the LR 1.4 catalog and create one compatible for LR 2, a catalog that won't work with LR 1.4. So if you import new images to LR 2 but for some reason don't want to upgrade you will need to re-import the images to LR 1.4 and redo any edits.

I installed LR 2.2, just updated to 2.3 and all is great! mithrandir was 100% correct. I still have to use it more, but processed my last two shoots successfully.
