Interesting new scanner from Canon. MSRP is $129, and Canon claims on their site that it'll do 9600dpi for 35mm negatives (a big gripe about the earlier Canon 35mm scanners was that they maxed out at 1200dpi).
35mm Film — Make your old photos look brand new again with the special film scanning guide frame and Film Adapter Unit by scanning one film strip at a time at a maximum 9600 color dpi.
...compared to the features pages for the 4400f, 5600f, and 8800f, which don't state the film negative scanning's dpi capability.
Looks like it might be a very affordable solution.
this is true, i'm curious of its resolution, definetly would be a cheap buy and test.
althought i think the biggest question here is how good is this scanner at focusing?
because DPI on a scanner i just like MP on a camera, quite useless if your lens is garbage,
my Nikon Coolscan apperantly tries to auto-focus on the grain (much like the grain focuser in a darkroom) vs his Epson 700 which has like 3 preset settings of some ridiculously large increments (like 0.5 of a mm)
