Printing B/W photos on the cheap

I want to pass on some information on printing b/w photos in 11 x 17 sizes *CHEAP*.

I happened to be in our local "Office Max" store and they have small printing service in the back of the store. I was there one day and saw that they were printing some over sized posters for a man. I watched as they came out of the printer and was impressed with the quality. I inquired if they could print from a digital file and could they print in b/w, they replied in the affirmative to both questions.

I took a memory stick into them with several b/w images on them and they printed them off on a "Zerox" printer on 24 lb glossy paper and I'll have to say they turned out pretty darn good. The nice part was that two pictures cost me a little over $4.00.

I took them home, mounted them on mat board using 3M spray adhesive and matted them with an 11 x 14 mat and mounted them in a 16 x 20 frame. I think they look pretty good, especially for what it cost me. I'll exhibit them on my family room wall until I get sick of looking at them and then replace them with something new.

Just for what it's worth, I think that it's worth a try.

Pics, or it didn't happen :-D

Seriously, that's a great idea, I'll have to check them out. I would appreciate pics of the framed photos (with scale) though!

Forget the big box stores. Go to a PIP or Sir Speedy. Better staff, more knowledgeable. Usually family owned.
