Oh boy! Oh boy. With the price range they are talking about (> US$ 1000), I'm tempted to sell mine (with an APS adapter) to help with the K-7 fund

I like the scanner. A good performer over the years. I would not have a second thought of getting it.

Just some of the scratch artefacts could be hard to rid off post scan. I still yet found the best way to rid of these effects...

If that doesn't take the cake. My Coolscan 5000 ED is due to be delivered tomorrow! I guess I should have bought the bulk slide scanner along with it! Interestingly enough, it is still listed as current product at nikonusa.com. Maybe they will continue to sell it on the U.S. market.

steve, w/ the 5000 there is a mod to change the strip film adapter to run the entire roll. you just require a thin piece of wire to connect two of the pins. just google to learn more, although some people chose to sodder.

Thanks for the tip! The mod does not look too difficult, though it will void the warranty

I had a 4000 and it was a great scanner! I've since replaced it with a Creo Flatbed, but it's sad to see the market shrinking for these things. Maybe with Kodak introducing new film there will be some growth there. Who knows. Grab 'em while they're hot!
