Settings for IR, in-camera and post processing.

I have a *istD that is 720nm IR only.

I see allot more noise in my photos than some examples I've seen. I am assuming I need to tone down the "reds" in-camera to reduce this?

In other words, I'm asking what are some good guidelines for setting the camera for IR, reduced color saturation? What white balance? one that would normally lean toward blue? (these are assumptions, please correct me).

Also, is there a magic formula for post processing? Or at least a couple of things every IR photo needs? (besides swapping red and blue channels).

I have done some experimenting, but my results seem to be very dependent on the in-camera settings.

Thanks....

Hi, I have the *Ist DS. The only suggestion I can make is to set the tone curve to "natural" and back off the hue and saturation. I would also consider backing the sharpening right off as well to avoid any artifacts there. I'm not sure about the PP though. Good luck!

You need to do a custom WB in camera.
In PP, you need to switch the red and blue channels.
