Pentax will release the 4.0 as an update for existing users soon.
It took some weeks for the 3.1 to come and so on, first they ship with new cameras then after some weeks it could be downloaded from Pentax homepage. Just wait a few weeks and it will be there.

The automatic adjustment of distorsion and CA won't function with pre K-7 bodies.
This is because only the K-7 reads the needed information from the lenses. The K20D does not read the full lens information (because it could do nothing with the information so why should it read it?) and because the K20D and other Pentax DSLR's pre the K-7 does not read this data from the lenses, then they can't save it to the RAW-files so there is no data for the PPL 4 to work with.

Only K-7 reads the info and saves it to the RAW files.

Sounds like nonsense, for every new lens released after a release of PPL, there is an update which adds these lensnames to PPL.
So, why not add the extra lens characteristics ?
Looks more they want it only for K7 to sell more K7.

- Alternate location:
discovered by Lazaruscomeout.
- Spotting tool works only when Settings window is open. Default 8 is good for hot pixels and like 20 for dust spots in the sky (zoom like 50%). If you are not patient after every click could crash to desktop.

Admin edit: linked file was found to be illegal; link removed.

I tested it out last night. now I haven't used any previous version of this app, so I don't have anything to compare to, but I dont much care for it. the interface is very bad and I don't think the layout was to well thought out. it also seemed to run a bit slow, which is odd because I can run lightroom 2.4 just fine. I certainly like the look of the RAW files in this app.. wish lightroom had the proper profiles for Pentax...

Click on the download (66 + MBs)

you will need to type "cnpentax.com" as the password to extract the RAR file.

Good luck!
The password doesn't seem to work.

It works. First check weather file is totally downloaded. size should be 66MB. If download is not properly complete, then it will fail extracting.

It is 66mb. However, it did have some issues during download. I'll download it again.

I tried all day, and I just can't seem to download it.
Does it have tilt adjustment and a resizing option?

Yes. It has both. So far, it seems to be a big improvement over PPL 3.X.

- Yes and yes! For some function it is necessary to highlight again selected image (like flatten image in PP). It has no Flip (Mirror).
- Resize is available when "Saving As" with button "Change image size", extend that window to the right if you are not seeing it.
- Tilt is available in the "Rotate/Shift" tab (makes me dizzy):
"We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity." (sorry, I couldn't resist, it's my favorite and is mostly true here).

Is the Windows version of PPL any better than the Mac version? I'm a Lightroom/Aperture user, but I fire up PPL once in a while, and the Mac version's interface is just so slow and clunky it's nearly unusable. If the Win version is better, I might just fire it up in Bootcamp to play around.
