Which printer so you use?

I am using the Epson Stylus Photo R800 which is the top of the A4 size Epsom printers. I have used Canon in the past but I consider the Epson line to be the serious photographer's choice.
Which is the best? Epson, Canon, H.P., Brother?

My firts printer was an Epson 660 I think. After that I had a HP 5150 and a few months ago I bought the Epson PX800FW and Canon Selphy CP 720. I like the bigger one a lot more and prefere to print A4 photos Great quality! Scott Kelby in his books talks only about Epson

I did not vote, as i don't think there is a "best" printer for photographers. Some printers are better at certain things and it depends on the wants of the individual.

I used Canon printers from 2001 until 2007. The BJC 8200 and the S800. They did a good job as my carry around, onsite printers at horse shows, but i went through a lot of heads due to heat and dust.

When i went to upgrade i looked at the Epson 2400 and a Canon 9000 i think it was. I bought the Epson as it had better reviews for B&W printing and i liked what i read about the K3 inks..

Dave

PS its prints nice B&W's.

can't vote as their is no other option as I only use my Oki Color laser for simple prints. It actually does a serviceable job for getting an idea of what a real print will look...plus it's only about $0.35-$0.50 for an 8x10 print.

For those times I want a nice larger print I use one of the labs through my SmugMug account. Cheaper and better than maintaining my own printer here. And one of the labs will do hand color correction for a given shot at a very, very reasonable price. Just an option I sense a lot of people are using these days, an online lab service vs. the whole "more expensive fluid on the face of the Earth" thing about inkjet inks.

I use the epson picturemate. I was going to buy a higher end printer, but I bought 3 print packs at a closing ritz for 21 bucks. I still think the picturemate offers the best 4x6 prints for the money. Anything larger I use smugmug.

a small canon selphy to make "postcard" for my niece.

If I (rarely) need larger prints, I go to my local pro-shop.

I used to own the A4 Epson R220 which produced great prints, unfortunately whilst drinking ink !!

I've just replaced it with the Canon MP540 "all in one" which easily matches the R220 quality and uses a lot less ink too

I didn't vote because I don't believe any single printer or manufacturer of printers can be objectively determined to the best categorically.

I currently use a Canon Selphy CP760 printer for 4x6 prints. If I want larger prints I outsource the job.

I much prefer dye-sub printers over ink printers. No muss, no fuss, no clogged heads.

I let the labs print for me. Inkjets are too expensive to maintain.

Printers

I currently use a Canon i9900 and an HP Designjet 5500 PS. I'm looking for a way to afford a Canon IPF6100.

I use a Canon MP610 with eccellent results. The ink cartridges are very expensive for this printer. I use compatible ink cartridges with great results.

Epson 1280. There was a discussion a while back that resulted in "Which printer do you use?" turning into "Which EPSON do you use?"

Canon MP600 with non canon cartridges. Does a great job for 8.5x11 and smaller prints. non canon ink is inexpensive (approx 50% less)
