Help with Monitor Calibration Linux

Not to hijack the other calibration thread...

When I load my .ICM file in a terminal using xcalib, I don't get any confirmation whatsoever. Anyway, I load the file in GIMP under the Color Management part in options. When I finish working on a photo, and save it as JPEG, I open it with Eye of Gnome for viewing. The colors look radically different. I gotta be missing something.
