Is DXO lens correction really able to make a lens THAT much better?

I am wondering because then it could be a good investment and also smart to buy lenses that are already in its database to get the most of it.
What do you guys think about it?

Yes.

A wile ago Albert linked to some samples processed with and without DxO. Remarkable.
Why don't you try it out for a few weeks?

As for buying the lenses that are supported, for me that would be a strange approach.
On the other hand if you are in doubt about two equivalent lenses where one is supported and one is not, then this might be a factor to take into consideration.

Also, I find DxO a very fine RAW converter even for not supported lenses.

As I said, why don't you give it a try?

I see you have the kit lens. This one is supported.

I mean to compare the kit to something else...I guess I can compare it at 50 vs my manual 50mm and see how correct and stock compared to the 50mm lens.
I supposed the demo allows for doing all this.
Thanks

Canada_Rockies had some nice examples. You might PM him for the link. I believe they were on his Flickr account.

I finally got this installed, need to do some tests but I already found it annoying that DXO does not work under Vista 64 which is my most used OS right now.
I need to switch back to XP or I get a track something error when opening my images for processing...weird.

That is strange. It should run under Vista 64.
From the DxO Forum:

...Just received a new PC with 6 GB and Vista64.
But DXO is runnig in 32bit mode and up to 2 GB Memory use...

Don't be afraid to contact DxO for support.

I have been using PTLens for years. It covers most current as well as some older lenses and inculdes 3rd Party. It provides plugins in for CSX as well as the stand alone version. Cost is a donation.
