Thanks for the info

I downloaded the HDRist app and gave it a quick try. Pretty basic but not bad for free . There is one adjustment slider. All the way to the left gives a very dark image. All the way to the right does weird things to contrast and color. Somewhere in between there might be a decent exposure compromise.
