Jpeg processing just like RAW with Pentax digital camera utility 4???

Call me stupid.

But for the last few days I have been messin' with the included software, Pentax digital camera utility 4, just for the hell of it. I usually use aperture and photoshop.

But anyway, I think that when I make adjustments with it, and then convert it to TIFF file to print, the original jpeg file is being saved as it was in the original form in the same thumbnail. I have to say that in terms of flexibility RAW processing offers a bit more, but I don't know if I am hallucinating or being stupid. Yes it is a bit sluggish with Mac, but if what I am seeing is what I am thinking, I just may shoot more in jpeg format....

BTW, does Pentax ever publish updates to these software, sort of like a firmware update? For Mac user I think we can certainly use that.....

Ah, maybe I am off base. Just call me stupid. Maybe there are other threads that explain it.

Can some of you describe this phenomenon to me?
