I been trying to figure out how to change a photo from my K20d (jpg ) to 800x500 so I can post in the forum so admin don't have to do it for me. I'm in Edit and have the photo showing.
I also would like a book for Elements 7 that explains how to use it STEP by STEP.
It's hard for people to use these programs that know nothing about them.
You see a box called image... click and the resize is half way down. click it =- Image size and a box pops up with dimensions - just type in your width of 800 in the width box...
Not sure if there is an easier way, as I just got ele 7 but that works for me.
I just picked up Photoshop elements the missing manual from ebay and it is good.
The easiest way is "File" => "Save for Web", then choose the dimensions .
This automatically sets resolution to 96 dpi, so this should only be used for pictures for internet/screen use.
yep I got to that, but it's in Inches not in Pixils that you can type in 800x500 like you could in Elements 2.
Aha.. I have it in pixels. It s somewere in the settings, just cannot remember where...
The other option is "Image" => "Resize" => "Image Size", and you can choose the dimension and the resolution. For net use 72 or or 96 dpi will do

That's works, of course, but it's a really oddly indirect way of doing it. All that matters in the end is number of pixels, and you know the number of pixels you want. Thinking in terms of asking the program into sizing it with the right number of pixels by giving a dimension in inches and a resolution in pixels per inch carries the danger of confusing people into thinking that those are the figures that matter.
