Gerlach Outdoor Photography?

Has anyone attended one of their seminars? They're coming to my town and I signed up (reasonably priced). However, they said NOT to bring a camera as they will be talking to slides and handouts all day. I'm not sure if that's appealing to me. Does anyone have experience with something like this?

Russ,
I have never attended one of their seminars, however I did attend a two-day seminar in Baltimore, MD put on by Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP). It sounds similar to yours in format. Most of the two days were spent listening to instructors explain technique while viewing slides. Instead of handouts we recieved a spiral bound notebook that contained outlines of each presentation with space for our own notes. Though I left each day feeling overloaded with information, I learned a lot. In addition, I continue to consult to spiral bound notebook. I will also add that I left the workshop eager to go out and take photographs.
If the price is right and you are interested in outdoor photography I am sure you will find the experience worthwhile.

Regards,
Erl

Thanks Erl, that's encouraging. It's only $79, so I'm sure I'll go ahead and do it. I just like to play with my toys while people are talking about them!

Russ, I do not know anything about the seminar but I did pick up a magazine called Nature Photographer Nature Photographer Magazine John and Barbara Gerlach are Associate Editors. They have one short article about firing the shutter in the winter 2006 issue I saw. Seemed to be pretty well written . . . . hope it works out and is worth the time.

Best,

Ed

I'm going to Gerlach, Nevada next week...probably not the same thing, huh?

I'll look for those seminars and try to attend them. They sound interesting.
