Deleting using 6700 card reader

Does anyone else have a Canon 6700D printer? For some reason I cannot delete my images from a card in that printers memory card reader. I can delete the files from the camera, but not when using the reader. I googled the issues and searched help files, but am coming up dry. Any thoughts?

Hmm, is the card protected? Sometimes the notch is accidently pushed, making the card write-protected.

No, unless it unprotects itself when I pull it out. If I plug the camera in direct it works just fine. I can do whatever to the card. Its only in the 6700 I get this behaviour. I may get another card reader, as it is extremely slow. If I plug the camera in direct the file transfer is about half the time.
