I will be going to the "SuperMoto" races later this afternoon, and am looking for advice on settings. Somewhat fast action, and from the looks outside, it will be a very bright sunny day, went out a few mins ago and there was not a cloud in the sky. So what i am asking here is, to get the sharpest photos for SOMEWHAT fast action, what f stop, shutter speed, and ISO combinations would you photo gurus recommend? I know there is no ONE answer to this question, but i am sure there are general rules to go by for these kinds of shots. More than likely i'll be using the kit lens, and maybe a 28-80 zoom my pop has.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

I shot some power boat races recently, so I stuck my camera in SHutter priority and played around with the speeds. I found that to get a sharp enough panning shot with the background "speed blurred", 1/90 was about right. If I wanted a super sharp shot, but not indicating much speed as the backgound was also frozen, I used a faster shutter. The speed of the bikes will differ for you than the boats for me, so I suggest some experimentation at the start to see what you can do. Then you can decide whether or not you want a blurred backgorund or not. The relative speed of the bikes is also determined by how close you are to them. I kept it on ISO 200 (my lowest) as it was a nice day.
Other things are pre-focussing on where you know the bike is going to be you probably realise.
If you are going to get a lot of sky in the shots, when the bikes are jumping for instance, you may want to dial in some + compensation, or fix your metering elsewhere.
I know its a bit late now, but like Arpe said, if you want to show motion then keep it in shutter priority anywhere between 1/50 and 1/125 and make sure you have your lowest iso setting selected. It is probably best to use AF-C if you plan on panning as well.
The following shot was taken at 1/60th, f8 and iso100 in shutter priority mode and AI-servo (constant autofocus)
