Photo printing problem

My printer prints 5x7 and 4x6 nicely, but when i attempt to print an 8.5 by 11 of an action photo. it doesnt print all that sharply. i use a canon pixma ip6000d printer and my camera is the ist ds. and im also printing at 300 dpi

do you have enough pixels though?

well the camera is 6 mega pixels, so it does go a bit over the limit a bit, i was thinking of trying a lower Dpi for the bigger ones.

I'm not familiar with your printer, but I regularly printed up to 10X15 (full frame or close to it) from my DS. I'm using an Epson 2200 and got very good results printing through either PS7, QTR or Qimage.
You might want to try the demo for Qimage, which is better than printing from Photoshop, will resize very well and will also do output sharpening for you.
