Nature Macros (c&c welcome)
Posted by Cloudy Wizzard, 12-22-2007, 07:39 AM Cloudy Wizzard is offline

Since I was unable to go beyond the back yard due to work and some personal isues, I decided to try some maco shots of the plants in the yard.

The metadata for all files should be availabe but here is the most important stuff :

Camera : Pentax K100D Super
Lens : Pentax A-Lens 70-210mm
Focal Lenght : 70mm (not included in the Metadata since the Anti-Shake was off so the camera didn't ask for then when I turned it on)
ISO : 400
Aperture : 5.6 for most I think
Mode : Aperture Priority

This one is from a few days ago when it was a bit warmer outside

some moss on an old railroad "biels" this is a wooden cross-piece

texture of the biels (a part without moss)

some snow on a plant

same plant but photo was made this morning (much colder then when the above photo was made)

some more snow

Happy Hollidays

I like the snow ones. Last one maybe could use a liitle more exposure. Well done - and I hope you can get out of the yard soon (then again .... sometimes it's nice to stay home)

Yes, I think I should also cool it down just a bit to make the snow even more white.

here is a better version I think :-D

it has some more exposure, is cooled down a bit more and I added some blacks to the midtones so the background is a bit darker.

I like 4 and 5. The improved version of 6 is much better. They are all nice snow close-ups.

Tnx,

I personally like the 5th the best. I've set it up as my desktop wallpaper.

I had seen this zoom being used in real life and producing stellar images. A great zoom in deed!

The last shot really has the transformation. Snow shots are hard to calibrate its colour

Yeah, I had a shot of a tree here in the street with the sun on it and it eighter to warm (yellow snow) or to cold (blue snow in the shadows).

I might have a try at it with photoshop when I have some time to waste Maybe I can use some masking trick to have the best of both worlds.

Interesting pictures. I like the "lighter" frost on the leaves the best but I have a fondness for the bark and moss pictures since they bring out the texture found in natural settings.
