Pictures from K10D & K1000
Posted by Shashinki, 01-17-2008, 06:56 PM Shashinki is offline

Hi all! This is the first images i post on this forum (actually first ones i post anywhere really...)

I've just joined you guys and thought I would show a couple of my pictures. I chose some B&W portraits to begin with, I'll have to see if i have any color shots that are good enough to post later.

These shots are taken with two of my cameras; the K10D and the K1000. I wonder if you guys can tell which is which straight away?? I havent really done any post-processing to speak of on these images as I am pretty much a clutz in PS, but i did a little bit. (don't hesitate to give me pointers on techniques)

The old grandpa K1000 is the first one with his M 50mm 1.4 glasses and ISO400 kodak film:

Granddaughter K10 doesnt want to be outdone with her DA 40mm 2.8 and ISO 1600:

Size: 46.4 KB

I hope you liked my pictures, i am actually amazed at how good the K10D handles ISO 1600!

Thanks JoN!

It was nice to get a reply, and I'm glad that my pictures arent too bad

I'm pretty new to photography, so it's good to get some positive reactions to my mediocre photos. :P

They are both fine shots - keep up the great work. The only suggestion I would make is on the first one - it would have been nice to have the complete chin of the subject. Although the eyes are the focus point it just seems a bit lacking with the tip of the lower lip cut off and the chin missing. - Just my thoughts - but otherwise bloody good shots!

I hope to see more!

I'm with J.Scott on these and his comments on the framing. Very good stuff. I'm really taken with the second shot. Portraits are a tough area and you captured her very well. You can get a sense of her personality in the way you took the shot. I imagine she's energetic and fun to hang out with and has a bit of a serious side. The picture captures that for me.

I agree with you guys that the framing is a bit off on the first shot and learned something useful. I'll just have to remember it the next time i'm doing portraits. (these pictures aren't cropped) XP

You got the personality of the girl in the second picture bang on Peter, she was really energetic and the center of attention that evening. Stopping only to pose for a few shots in the queue at a local kebab shop late at night.

Actually you got the personality "bang on" with the shot. That's how I could see it when you posted the shot. I have never met her, you captured the portrait well enough to show that.
