When I was up Montpelier Canyon yesterday morning ( see my other post here)
I caught this on the opposite side of the canyon where the early sun was causing some melting. This was way up the side of the canyon so I needed my Sigma 600mm F/8.0 catadioptric lens to catch the action. Looks like the inside of a cave with stalactites made of ice and some unknown organic slime.

To get a sense of scale here's a wide shot with the 50mm FA , 4 times closer to the action and later in the day ...

Very cool - looks like a place to spend a few days! Nicely done.

Interesting and cool! When I saw the first picture I thought it was from a cave. Really rare moment, I think?

Thank you Dave. It is a beautiful area. In the summer you can drive up to the ~8000' level. Here's a shot I did up there last year ...

Thank you Georg. It is a fleeting moment. Cold enough overnight for icicles to form and just warm enough in the day to slowly melt them. I'm glad I got up there early to catch the action in the morning sun.
