Top Tip! Post your forum pictures (flickr/picasa) easy!
Posted By: cputeq, 05-04-2008, 06:32 AM

I was given this tip by a member of the Arstechnica photo thread and love it.

If you're a user of either Flickr or Picasa, this will save you tons of time when posting to "UBB" type message boards such as this.

OILU - Openforum Image Link Utility

Simply copy/paste the text that Picasa or Flickr gives you as the picture link, paste it into the top box at that page, and hit "process".

You can then copy the "Openforum" text it gives you into a forum page like here at PentaxForums and you automatically have a picture that is also a clickable link to flickr!

Very easy and beats hand-editing links! I was very thankful when they told me about this! Enjoy!

Note -- If you're posting large photos, just add "WIDE" (without the quotes) right after the <IMG> tags that you paste into your message.

cputeq,

Go to the head of the class, and collect $200 as you past Go.

Thanks for the tip

Here is a test of this process:

Small thumbnail that is clickable to open the picasa page in a new window. Is this what is supposed to happen?

Yep! Remember, if you want to post a larger version of the picture in the thread itself, just be sure to copy the text link that Picasa gives you for the "800 px" (or whatever) variant of your photo!

You should be able to view your picture, select the (Number 1 in picture) "800 px" dropdown box, which will change the text that picasa gives you to link. (number 2 in picture)

Copy that text into the tool, hit process, then paste the result directly into this forum and you'll have your 800px size (with link) picture in the thread!

Same for the other sizes. I believe picasa defaults to the 144px thumbnail size when you're copying the "link text" that it gives you.

Test from Picasa

I'm gonna try this one out.

And it works.
Thanks. I've been moving away from Picasa and even flicker just because of that issue.
I bow to you and the friends who provided you the information.

A bumpage in this post, for great justice!

I've noticed a few new names, so hopefully this will help with posting images if you have Flickr or Picasa!
