A couple of weeks ago, I lectured at a technical conference at Galveston's Moody Gardens. On one day of the meeting I played hooky from the meeting and grabbed some tourist shots (one was taken at night from my room). Moody Gardens, which is built around three large pyrimids, is a pretty cool place (and, the beer is cold in the hotel bar); I wouldn't travel cross country to go there, but should you happen to be visiting SE Houston or Galveston, it's worth the trip (along with a drive up Seawall to Guido's for dinner). All these snapshots (and that's all they are) were taken with a DA limited lens. The night shot is pretty sorry, but it's the best I could do hand held.
That are nice images Jer and for handheld it is a pretty good night shot as well. Thanks for posting them, it's another place that I have not been to but have now seen pictures of.
I've been there many times. My mother lives on the island and gets my son season pass every year. only time I've spent in the hotel was doing the audio.visual for business meetings ans such. Galveston is an interesting place to have a camera with you.

Thanks, folks, for the very kind replies about what I'd-be-the-first to say is a pretty mundane group of pictures. I did forget to mention that in the last shot, the lights that define horizon are petro complexes and refineries - one of the reasons the Houston area is called the "oil patch''.
Love the late day Palm tree, and the night shot, also diggin' the pyramid shot too !!

Hey Jer, nice pics. I like the first and the last two. The night shot is pretty darn good considering it's handheld! And you said your hands weren't steady! Good work.

Thanks, Buddy. The good thing about having my retirement points (and then some) is that the kindest thing my employer can do is fire me - with the attendent "package" of course. Seriously, I really appreciate your comments, as always.
