Great shot, sort of sums up the China of today very nicely. Looks like you had some sunshine and a reasonably clear sky as well.

Funny how I went to the same places as you, and my photos come out gray, while you have nice blue skies and pollution free photos
I didn't see it at first, but the face decoration on the umbrella is a nice touch.
We were lucky, at every place we visited, it rained the day before we got there. This helped to clear the air and allowed us to have almost blue skies.
We saw quite a few umbrellas with faces and ears, it seems to be a popular tool for keeping the sun off the local Chinese ladies.
