First shots with my new Macro
Posted by Gadget_Guy, 05-26-2008, 06:49 PM Gadget_Guy is offline

So far so good...

I really love this lens.... Sigma Macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG. I just got it via the Marketplace and these are my first shots with it.

Some shots from around my backyard garden:

I have a new found respect for you Macro shooters.... I just couldn't get anything close than these shots to work.

I was doing it all hand held... it was really interesting how much the slightest breeze moving the object made it so hard to focus and get the shot.

I am really looking forward to using this lens more.

I find it very nice for general shooting... it would be nicer if it was wider.... that will be my next LBA purchase.

Comments etc are very welcome.

I do not see anything yet. Is it because of my non -IE browser?

I saw nothing in IE but the pics work in Mozilla.

Nice pics GG! Macro is a lot of fun but like you noticed, you'll need a good tripod to get super sharp pics.

Thanks for sharing.

Try refreshing.... I had typos in the picture links.... Browser shouldn't matter.

If not this should work:

Out in the Garden

I see all images using IE. Nice series. I have been thinking of getting a Sigma 50mm macro. Your shots may just have pushed me over the edge and I may get one. Thanks for sharing.

The seventh and eighth shots really highlight the sharpness of that lens, nice:-).
I don't even try shots like that handheld, a tripod should be next on your list to really get into macro.

Yea... I was pretty amazed myself. This lens made a hack like me look somewhat good.

I litterally picked up the lens, slapped it on the body and walked around the yard.

I had no idea now sensitive movements would be when shooting macro. I have a cheezy tripod that will have to do the job for a while.... I will head out to the yard with it later this week.

Something that is pretty amazing is how good this lens is for just normal non-macro shots.

I am going to start saving for a fish or wide similar to this lens.
