Kingfisher Family feeding time

hello ALl,

Last week I checked a place where the kingfisher is breeding. I expected that this week the young birdwould fly out. So yesterday I searched for some branches where I was hoping the kingfishers would sit on.

Today I set my alarm at 4 o'clock and I drived one hour. Did some little walking to get to the right place with my equipment.

Backpak, camera with Sigma lens + some extra (7 kilo)
Tripod (2 kilo)
Camo birdhide (7 kilo).

When I reached almost the correct place I saw 1 Kingfisher sitting at a branch. So I setup the tent and placed the braches (2 pieces) where I want them.

Then back into the camo birdhide and placing the tripod and started to build up the eqiupment. When I looked up I saw that there where 2 kingfishers already sitting at one of the newly placed brances WOW this feels good

But this wil not stop with 2 kingfishers.... In totall I say 5 young and 2 adult Kingfishers.

I never saw this before or saw a photo from such event

First picture is from the adults. On next photo's you see the young kingfisher having grey feet and adult ones have orange feet.

I was there 5 hours and there where only 10 minits I did not see kingfishers

enjoy it....

Those are great Walter! Those kingfishers are really cool, I love your bird shots, but could you post a bad one once in a while so I don't feel so bad?

What kind of kingfishers are these? I've always wanted to catch some pictures of one of the three species that live in Texas.

Really awesome shots Walter, thanks for sharing. One thing I wanted to comment on, I think if you changed the order they are displayed, so that they tell more of a story, they would have much more impact.

Beautiful shots, they are one of my favorite birds, I used to draw them when I was in grade school.

Excellent as usual Walter. I can only imagine your excitement to have the birds around you like this. I know it doesn't always work out that way, so this day was a reward for all the times that are not so successful. Thank you for sharing these. A real treat for the eyes indeed!
