Toronto Garment District
Posted by lbam, 06-05-2008, 11:57 PM lbam is offline

I went out for a wander today, just before it rained to pick up a manikin head in Toronto's Garment district with the DA 35mm Macro. It may not be a zoom, but it's certainly flexable in use...

Oh the Manikin... that's another story... lol.

Hope this is not too much...

Thanks for looking.

I like them - each and every one! I really like street photography.

My question to you is why does it seem like almost all the shots have vignetting? Since I can't see the EXIF I don't know what camera you used with the 35mm macro. Unless the vignetting was added in PP it might be concerning. However, the effect does work.

Thanks for sharing

Thank you.

K20D and 35mm Holga lens, borrowed from Ben.
Seriously it was the Pentax DA 35mm, and the vignetting was done in pp. I guess I wanted that dark look.

I like the "vignietting" and hence the shots. It seems to give that district of Hogtown a mood which didn't exist 20 years ago.

It has changed so much.

I like your shots. You give those of us who've never been there a real feel for the area.

I like your style and composition. The vignetting gives it oomph and adds to its character. Awesome shots!

cool shots! I have not yet mastered the art of turning ordinary objects into interesting images... You have done that very nicely in this series.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the critique be it good or bad.

Maybe I went a little over board on the vignetting but I wanted a particular atmosphere to the pictures.

I wandered around a lot of back alleyways to places people (including myself), don't actually see normally to get some of the shots.

I'll post a few more pics up when I get chance... probably in the next 24hrs.

Great shots. My fave is the number keys. I also like that post processing - definitley gives a gritty feel.

The vignetting is what makes them so dramatic.. Did you achieve that post processing?.. I don't think I would have noticed the vignetting unless you wouldn't have pointed it out....
